Project Overview

The Paws for the Cause was a 4-week UC Berkeley Design course project undertaken in collaboration with the Bay Area's renowned non-profit, "Furry Friends Rescue.".

Using an agile approach, I worked on research, website audits, and delivering final designs and the design presentation to stakeholders.

The project involves the audit of their existing website to see what works well and what can be improved, business analysis, and the brand makeover of the website.

The primary objective of this redesign was to create a more intuitive, user-friendly platform that makes it easier for potential adopters and fosters to connect with pets in need. By simplifying the online adoption and fostering process, the project aimed to boost adoption rates, enhance client engagement, and alleviate the pressure on customer service, ultimately contributing to Furry Friends Rescue's mission of finding loving homes for animals in need.

Overview

Preface

Preface

How it started ?

We conducted this case study to ultimately redesign the Furry Friends Rescue website. We believe fostering and adopting pets is a vital community resource, and we want to make this process easier in order to improve adoption and fostering rates, reduce customer service calls, and find homes for more animals in need.

First, we gathered information from potential users via survey and interview, and conducted a stakeholder interview.

Next, we analyzed the current website, alongside the results of our interviews and surveys.

We combined information from these analyses to create wireframes and prototypes for a final, redesigned website.

Solution

Solution

To create a fully functional website with enhanced accessibility and updated branding.

Over the course of 4 weeks, I managed the entire group, recruited participants for testing, conducted the research sessions, and synthesized the data gathered from the study into actionable insights for the product and design teams.

Taking into account the areas of improvement that were identified from the usability test, then brought our prototype to high-fidelity with colors that are appealing and accessible.

Key takeaways and lessons

Test Quick & Often

I've learned that the product does not need to be perfect in order to begin testing. In fact, the more frequent you can test and gain real user insights, the better.

Tunnel Vision is Real

I've learned this the hard way. It is difficult not to get caught up in your own process, but it is crucial to keep the user font of mind. After all, the product is for them.

Be Confident
